Neurorehabilitation

Directed by Gary M. Abrams, M.D., the Neurorehabilitation Program is a combined effort between UCSF, the San Francisco VA Medical Center and UC Berkeley. Clinicians provide consultation and treatment for maximizing function to the damaged nervous system; outpatient clinics are conducted at both UCSF Medical Center and the San Francisco VA Medical Center. A multidisciplinary group of neurologists, neuropsychologists and rehabilitation therapists provide services for injured veterans at the San Francisco VA where there are ongoing research projects in novel approaches to cognitive rehabilitation and neuroimaging of combat-related brain injuries.

The neurological fitness unit developed by the neurorehabilitation program is a popular component of the Health and Wellness Program at Mission Bay Bakar Center in the Department of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Sciences.

If you are interested in a clinical fellowship, please contact Gary M. Abrams, M.D., Rehabilitation Section Chief San Francisco Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
