Mission Statement
The UCSF Department of Neurology is committed to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion among members of our department (our faculty, trainees, and staff) and in the patients whom we serve through clinical care and research. This will encompass a spirit of acceptance and respect across many dimensions, including race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, age, physical abilities, religious beliefs, and political beliefs.
We believe diversity within our community enhances the work environment, improves the quality of life of its members, and helps us to better serve our patients. These goals also aim to broaden our clinical reach to ensure that our research innovations benefit the populations in greatest need of advances in care.

Diversity Committee
The Neurology Diversity Committee was formed in January 2014 to improve diversity, defined across multiple domains, throughout the department. The committee advises the Hiring and Compensation Committees on equity issues in recruitment/retention and coordinates educational and community activities to increase awareness of diversity issues among faculty, staff, and trainees.
The Committee reports to the Chair of the Department and also advises the Director of Administration.
