The Neurology Service at ZSFG provides comprehensive emergency, inpatient, and outpatient neurological care for patients at ZSFG and the San Francisco Health Network. ZSFG serves as the safety-net public hospital for San Francisco and a major focus includes health equity and compassionate care to the underserved. As the only Level 1 Trauma Center in San Francisco and a Joint Commission-certified Stroke Center, ZSFG provides outstanding care for many critically ill and emergency patients. ZSFG is staffed exclusively by UCSF Neurology faculty and serves as a major training site for UCSF housestaff and medical students as well as clinical fellows in relevant programs. ZSFG-based Neurology faculty have active research programs in special areas of excellence at ZSFG including HIV Neurology and acute treatment of neurological emergencies.
