
Nerissa Ko, MD, MAS
Dr. Nerissa Ko is neurointensivist, a neurologist with specialized training in the care of patients in the intensive care unit with neurological diseases. She also has specialty training to care for patients with cerebrovascular diseases. Dr. Ko earned her medical degree at John A. Burns School of Medicine at the University of Hawaii, and completed a residency in neurology, followed by fellowships in neurocritical care and vascular neurology at UCSF. She is board certified in both vascular neurology and neurocritical care. In 2002, she joined the UCSF Neurovascular Service, where she is now assistant director and a principle attending at Moffitt-Long hospitals.
Dr. Ko sees patients for consultation on an outpatient basis as well for stroke and complex vascular diseases such as brain aneurysms and arteriovenous malformations.
Dr. Ko's research interests include:
* Clinical outcome following subarachnoid hemorrhage
* Cerebral blood flow measurement using radioactive Xenon
* Quantitative perfusion imaging for cerebrovascular diseases
