As a senior communications analyst for the UCSF Department of Neurology, I design, write, and track communications for a large department within the UCSF School of Medicine. I launched an interdepartmental committee to improve methods and tools for communication among workgroups, and I co-created a staff intranet that launched in 2024.
I have served on the department's Diversity Committee and the UCSF Dean’s "Differences Matter" Diversity Action Group 6. In 2016, I was a member of the inaugural class of UCSF's Diversity and Inclusion Certificate Program.
Currently the Associate Chair for Finance and Administration in the Department of Neurology, and the administrative director for the UCSF Weill Institute for Neurosciences. Also serving as Associate Chair, Finance and Administration, for the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences.
Robert Edwards is a neuroscientist known for his work on the molecular and cellular basis of neurotransmitter release and its role in Parkinson's disease. His group identified the proteins that transport classical transmitters into neurosecretory vesicles, characterizing their role in quantal release, their mechanism and their regulation as well as their structure.
Dr. S. Andrew Josephson specializes in neurovascular and other neurologic disorders, caring for general neurology and stroke patients in the hospital as well as in clinic. He is the founder of UCSF's Neurohospitalist Program and specializes in difficult to diagnose inpatient neurologic conditions. He serves as Chair of the Department of Neurology and is the Carmen Castro Franceschi and Gladyne K. Mitchell Neurohospitalist Distinguished Professor.
Dr. Nerissa Ko is neurointensivist, a neurologist with specialized training in the care of patients in the intensive care unit with neurological diseases. She also has specialty training to care for patients with cerebrovascular diseases. Dr. Ko earned her medical degree at John A. Burns School of Medicine at the University of Hawaii, and completed a residency in neurology, followed by fellowships in neurocritical care and vascular neurology at UCSF. She is board certified in both vascular neurology and neurocritical care.
